Come & ride the lights
On Tuesday 30th August Blackpool seafront will be closed for the annual ride the lights. The Promenade will be closed from about 18.00 – 1830 for the event to take place from 19.00 until 22.00. This is an opportunity for everyone to get on their bikes and view this years Illuminations in a safe environment without having to worry about traffic. Ideal for those with families to see the lights in all their glory.

It has been announced that this year comedian Keith Lemon will be switching on the Blackpool Lights. The supporting line up for the entertainment show this year will include Pixie Lott, James Morrison, Joe McEldrerry,Olly Murs,Paul Carrack,Wonderland,The Overtones,Wynne Evans (from the Go Compare adverts),X Factor finalists The Reason 4,Scouting For Girls, Beverly Knight & Darren Hays.

A NEW PIECE OF HISTORY?
On Thursday 8th September Blackpool will be the spotlight with the global unveiling of the first of a new type of tram. The Bombardier built tram will be the first of this class of tram anywhere in the world. It will be the first of a fleet of 16 trams to be in service between Starr gate & Fleetwood. the tram will be unveiled at the new tram yard built at Starr Gate. If you’re a tram or transport buff book now to see the new tram & don’t forget it’s the illuminations as well!

If you fancy a day trip away from the thrills of the promenade, you might like to try the Garstang Agricultural and Horticultural Show which takes place on Saturday August 6th Sunday August 7th sees a Family Fun Day and Music Festival in effect too and while we are on the subject, Garstang Arts Festival takes place from Sunday August 21st to Monday August 29th
